This is where our journey will end… 🙁
Mayotte is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean and the coast of Mozambique. Its capital is Mamoudzou.
If there’s one thing not to be missed here is Lake Dziani, nicknamed the Jurassic lake. Here you will find water twice as salty as the sea.
The Mahoraise mangrove
Welcome to the mangrove of trees growing in the sea water! These are mangrove forests that can be visited.
Here too you can observe the turtles laying their eggs. As soon as they are born, the babies rush to the ocean but only 1% will manage to survive the predators.
The lagoon is a diver’s paradise where a multitude of animal species and flora can be observed at close quarters. You will find a lot of activities to do. The lagoon of Mayotte is one of the most beautiful in the world.
It is the second highest peak on the island, at 594 metres above sea level. But before climbing it, I suggest you stop at the Bandrélé salt museum…
I hope you’ve enjoyed this long journey and that it makes you want to!
