Storming North America : Florida

So here is heavy. And I can tell you that I know this state well!

Yes I know well, I was lucky to go there. It’s not young, it was in 2001! Some photos are mine like this one. They are old and scanned so sorry if the quality is not there.

Nicknamed « the sunshine state », this state is located on the Gulf Coast. It is the third most populated of the United States. You surely believe that the capital is Miami or Orlando? Not at all … This is Tallahassee.

Everglades

This swampy area extends from central Florida to the Keys. It includes many parks and reserves. travel aboard a hydrofoil and observe wildlife.

Miami

A totally and ever-trendy, festive and very tolerant city that stretches out over the coastal plains of the Miami River Estuary just a few hours by boat from the Bahamas is what characterizes Miami.
Museums such as the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts or neighborhoods like the Wywood District known for its graffiti, you will find an omnipresent Art Deco architecture. There are also beaches like Miami Beach of course. The magic city is yours!

Orlando: the land of theme parks

Orlando is unquestionably the capital of theme parks. I have identified no less than 12 parks but I’m sure there are others! You will have the choice of the king. And because a video is more speaking than photos, plan a little time to read them … We start with the parks of the friend Mickey who are 6 in number (yes just that) of which 2 are water parks:

  • Magic Kingdom (I went to see the evening show)

  • Epcot

  • Disney’s animal kingdom

  • Disney Hollywood Studios

  • Disney’s blizzard beach

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

You may prefer those of Universal Orlando which are 3 including 1 aquatic:

  • Universal Studios

  • Island of Adventure (the one I visited)

  • Universal ‘s Volcano Bay

While there, I risk getting the wrath of some people but yet I must mention them too. There are also 3 rows in the category of water parks that belong to SeaWorld:

  • SeaWorld

  • Discovery Cove

  • Aquatica

Finally, a park much less known and a little … totally different, the Holy Land Experience transports you to Palestine at the time of Jesus. It is based on the theme of the old and the new testament.

The newest park is located 45 minutes from Orlando, it’s called Legoland and opened in 2011.

Crystal river manatee tours

There you will find manatees. This is the only place in the world where you can swim freely with them.

Kennedy Space Center

Located in Cape Canaveral, the history of past, present and future space exploration will be told.

I hope you enjoyed this trip. Me, he plunged me back into my distant memories. Next time we will go to Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky.
